Advocacy & Community

Over the course of the past 3 years, Habitat28 has played a pivotal role in advocating for affordable housing solutions and fostering community development through strategic partnerships with municipal leadersprovincial officials, and non-profit organizations. By engaging with key stakeholders at various levels of government and in the private sector, Habitat28 has actively promoted the use of modular construction as an efficient and sustainable solution to the housing crisis.

Collaborative Engagements with Municipal Leaders

During a visit to the Habitat28 Factory, Mayor Davis engaged with us in meaningful discussions on how modular construction can play a central role in addressing Brantford’s housing needs. Together, we explored ways to collaborate on solutions for affordable housing that are fast, cost-effective, and environmentally sustainable.

We hosted Mayor Bailey to discuss sustainable housing solutions and how Habitat28 can contribute to local development projects that benefit the Brant County community. A key focus of the meeting was exploring avenues for collaboration with local organizations and non-profits to provide more affordable housing options, developing attainable and senior lifestyle communities in Brant.

We were privileged to host Brant County Council members to showcase the potential of modular housing as a tool for local community development. Our discussions centered on how Habitat28’s solutions can help address housing shortages and foster inclusive, sustainable communities, as well as how Habitat28 modular shops and kiosks would be a fantastic addition to the County during the Downtown Revitalisation process by creating a permanent Artisan Market bringing local entrepreneurs and community together. This visit marked an important step in strengthening partnerships with local municipal leaders and community-focused organizations.

Advocacy with Provincial Representatives

Habitat28 welcomed MPP Will Bouma for a conversation about modular construction innovations and how these solutions can address housing challenges at the provincial level. We discussed changes in Ontario’s building regulations and explored ways that the province can leverage modular construction to meet the increasing demand for affordable housing.

We had the opportunity to engage with MP Brock about the role of modular housing in promoting sustainable community development. Through a roundtable discussion, we emphasized how efficient modular construction can contribute to provincial efforts in tackling Ontario’s housing crisis, especially through partnerships with non-profits that work directly with underserved communities.

We were honored to host Doug Treleavan, Conservative Candidate for Kitchener Conestoga, at our Habitat28 factory, where he explored our sustainable building practices and vision for the future of housing.

Partnerships with Non-Profit Organizations

CEO Shailesh Poddar was a keynote speaker at the Affordable Housing Summit, where he discussed the critical role of modular construction in accelerating the delivery of affordable housing. Habitat28’s participation in this summit highlighted the need for collaboration between the public, private, and non-profit sectors to streamline approvals, secure funding, and efficiently deliver housing solutions to those who need it most.

Habitat28 participated in this event with leaders in housing innovation to explore how modular construction can serve as a powerful tool for the non-profit housing sector. We shared our vision for affordable housing solutions that can be rapidly deployed to support communities in need, particularly in partnership with non-profit organizations focused on improving housing accessibility for marginalized groups.

Habitat28 and our Brand ambassadors participated in the Brantford-Brant trade show further fostering our local network and community engagement.

Habitat28 proudly sponsored and participated in this event, where we presented modular kiosk solutions designed to support local artisans. Our commitment to building affordable, sustainable spaces for entrepreneurs is a testament to our broader goal of creating vibrant, connected communities. Municipal and Community-Based Initiatives

In our continued commitment to community engagement, Habitat28 participated in discussions with the Town of Oakville about upcoming Town’s Master Plan and development vision for the next 10 years.  We emphasized how collaboration with local governments, non-profits, and community organizations can help realize Oakville’s vision of affordable, inclusive communities.

Habitat28 was one of they stakeholders invited for a round table discussions with the Milton’s Councillors and Building and Planning Departments about Milton’s future Master Plan and how best private and public sectors can collaborate and work together to create attainable and sustainable communities in Milton.

In a dedicated effort to support the local economy and community development, Aura Poddar, representing Habitat28, introduced innovative ideas for a permanent Artisan Market where local artisans and entrepreneurs would be able to connect and trade withing the community in Brant County. This year-round, temperature-controlled modular kiosks aim to foster local entrepreneurship, creating spaces for small businesses and artisans to thrive while contributing to a stronger, more sustainable community.
